Can ComWeb be used for both Internet and Intranet websites ?

Yes. ComWeb can be used to deploy both dynamic and static sites.

Dynamic sites are constructed on-the-fly from a database whereas static sites are snapshots of dynamic sites, produced using the ComWeb Static Site Publisher. Static sites are typically non-database dependant and therefore do not support all features available in a dynamic Instance deployment.

If the destination server has access to a SQL [database] Server and IIS, it can be used to host dynamic sites.

This site is currently a static site though a dynamic ComWeb internet deployment has been in operation for over 6 years managing the ACT Scouts web presence Open in new window made up from over 80 sub-sites.
