Can large pages be created in ComWeb ?
ComWeb can be used for pages of virtually any size, though we recommend the use of page sections to facilitate both page maintenance and navigation.
Section entries are automatically used as anchors (bookmarks) in:
- the page "Table of Contents"
- "go to top" links at each section
- Search, What's New, Site Map, the Hyperlink Wizard, etc.
While ComWeb can produce web pages of any size, it is not good practice to produce pages that require excessive scrolling or that print to more than a few A4 pages.
Web pages should be designed with the target audience in mind and organised into topics based on print requirements. eg:
- if printing a page containing directions from point A to point B in the one leg then it is reasonable to expect all the direction will be required. Therefore, regardless of whether printing extends to 1 or 10 A4 pages, all the instructions could be on the one web page
- if an information page contains both FAQ and contact details, it is less likely that someone wishing to print would require both so we suggest it be placed on 2 separate pages rather than 2 sections on the 1 page, or
- with either of these 2 examples, use the printed page break option on the section properties tab to force page breaks at logical points for printing
If all sections printed on one page then printing requirements would not be a consideration.
