ComWeb Core Modules

Instance Administration

This module is for the Administrator to create the initial structure and constraints of the Instance.

The site organisation structure and menu hierarchy structures, personnel, roles, permissions, metadata elements and scheme as well as the system configuration (such as certain page header and footer definitions) and authoring constraints (such as document and image upload location, sourcing, types and sizes allowed), and define structure and guidelines for each page, including alternate URLs for particular sites and pages.

Web Site Builder

This module allows authorised users to initiate web pages, define and move pages within the site structure, submit, approve, reject, restore or delete both development or production pages as well as manage local pages.

Style Sheet Theme Editor

This module allows for the creation, modification, storage and recall of theme style sheets, which are then used throughout the Instance. Specific style sheets include locations, site content, menu and home page links.

Administration & Workflow

This module displays personnel assigned to any Administration,

Approval and/or Content Management role including permissions, accessible sites, roles and workflow. For example, this module will highlight to relevant Approval Officers the development pages submitted for approval.

Site Portal Builder

A site content manager may easily create either an attractive graphics home page for the site or an informative home portal page within constraints defined by the Administrator.

Page Builder

This module is the main page construction module for site content. It allows for the development of content for web pages and supports submitting content for approval.

The content manager may add text, tables, upload documents and images, or source from a document management system or a corporate repository, import Microsoft Word document, create static lists by uploading a Microsoft Excel or Access table, create dynamic lists of groups of documents, images, personnel or calendar events, incorporate RSS feeds. Each component added may be marked-up for internet and/or intranet site rendition.

The developed page may be viewed exactly as if it were an internet page or intranet page. This module also allows a designated content manager to maintain groups of documents, images, personnel or calendar events, and publish group data as a single component on a web page.

Using thei builder, Content Managers also manage controlled and secure documents, document and image details, calendar event details and local site personnel.

Periodic Workflow Processor

Used to initiate ComWeb time-based actions.

These include email notifications of pages past their review date, automatic publishing of pages with a future release date, workflow escalation, link & broken link management and subscription notification.

Events Calendar

Display of the corporate event calendar. At the site level, will only shows events marked as 'local'.

What's New

Any new or revised published page may be marked for automatic display on the What's New page.

Site Map

A page designated as the site map will automatically display links to a site's published pages and sections.

User Subscription

A guest user of a published site may create a profile based upon their email address and be automatically notified via email of any changes to sites or pages of their choosing. They may manage this profile at any time by adding or removing page or site subscriptions.

Feedback

Provides a standard email facility whereby users of the site can send an email back to the designated instance administrator or content manager.

Link Manager

This module produces a consolidated Site Link Report, grouping links (URLs) on the basis of document/image/external site/multimedia, email or document management, and reporting the current status and time. Broken links are proactively reported to content managers for investigation and rectification.

Management Reports

The pre-configured reports include roles, personnel assigned to roles (with email addresses hyperlinked), authoring activity, hits per page or aggregated by site (which may be sorted to determine most or least active page/site or author), pages or documents coming up for or in need of review.

Published Page Archive

Web pages may be automatically archived as Web Master Records (MHT format) as each page is approved for release to the production site.

Advanced Search

Allows a guest user to interrogate ComWeb, searching sites, published page content, personnel, documents and images using multiple criteria including wildcards, filters and advanced Boolean expressions. The results returned may be any combination of the above.

Geographical Locator

Navigation via a geographical interface allows customers to click a specific map location to obtain information or business functions available at that location.

ComWeb Optional Modules

Forms Builder

The Forms Builder allows for the creation of a simple poll, feedback forms, multi-page questionnaires and/or on-line training quizzes. The data submitted may be saved into the ComWeb database (for which the collected data may then be displayed and/or exported to a file) and/or emailed to a designated email address and/or saved into another database.

Corporate Data Interface

This module enables administrators to establish data connections to other corporate database systems. Data from sources such as Document Management, Finance or Human Resource can be included as page content based on dynamic query selection criteria.

Static Site Publisher

Used to take a snapshot of an entire published site by saving dynamic pages as html files with any linked documents and embedded images. The site can then be published to another server or burnt to a CD.

FAQ

A database driven FAQ module enables authorised users to categorise, propose, define, manage and publish both questions and answers for their target audience.

Glossary

A database driven glossary module enables authorised users to define and make available a glossary of terms specific to the organisation.

Option Licensing

Licences are available with different optional modules for Schools, Small Organisations and Large Organisations. The above module configuration is typical for a large organisation when a Standing Offer with specific inclusions is not agreed.
